New Mellor Strata High Floor Buses Continue to Transform Specialist Transport for East Riding Communities

Mellor has recently delivered four Strata High Floor buses to East Riding of Yorkshire Council, further strengthening a long-standing partnership and reinforcing a shared commitment to providing accessible, specialist transport across the region.

These latest additions are part of the council’s ongoing fleet renewal program. Over the past two decades, more than 100 Mellor vehicles have been integrated into their operations, demonstrating a long-term investment in accessible and efficient community transport.

The new vehicles, tailored to meet the council’s specific requirements, offer seating for up to 14 passengers and dedicated space for two wheelchair users. Accessibility is prioritised through side entry, wide double rear doors, and an internal tail lift, ensuring a smooth and inclusive boarding experience. Passengers and drivers also benefit from enhanced onboard features, including dual-unit climate control for year-round comfort and advanced CCTV for improved safety.

Mandy Rydel, Transport Operations Manager for East Riding of Yorkshire Council, commented:

“The wider-bodied design features 2+2 seating throughout, allowing for a wider seat base that accommodates both children and adult passengers. The vehicles are bright and spacious inside, with ample room to manoeuvre the wheelchairs of both children and adults with additional needs. Our strong partnership with Mellor is built on their consistent delivery of quality, reliable vehicles, tailored to meet the unique needs of our passengers.”

Mellor remains committed to supporting East Riding of Yorkshire Council with high-quality, accessible transport solutions, ensuring that communities across the East Riding continue to benefit from safe, comfortable, and inclusive transport services.
