Mellor is pleased to announce that Belle Vue (Manchester) has taken delivery of two Mellor Strata Ultra vehicles, supporting the operator’s continued growth following the award of a new service contract.

The vehicles have been introduced to operate on the 391 route between Stockport and Macclesfield, a service that combines a mix of urban and rural running, including more restricted country lanes. As passenger numbers continue to grow, the operator is already seeing strong performance from the new additions, with plans to move towards a seven-day service in the near future.

Built for the Realities of Mixed Urban and Rural Routes

The Strata Ultra was selected as a solution that aligns closely with the demands of the route. Its compact dimensions and agile handling make it well suited to tighter road networks, while still providing the capacity required for a scheduled service operation.

With seating for up to 30 passengers, the vehicle offers a balance between efficiency and practicality, helping Belle Vue maintain service reliability while operating across varying road conditions.

Practical Features That Support Daily Service

The vehicles are equipped with a specification that supports both driver ease and passenger experience, including a sliding entrance door for efficient boarding, a manual fold-out ramp to improve accessibility, a saloon heater for passenger comfort and a destination display with next stop announcement system. Together, these features ensure the vehicles are well suited to consistent, everyday use on a scheduled service.

While Belle Vue has operated Mellor vehicles previously, this order marks a new direct relationship with Mellor and reflects a growing confidence in the product. The Strata Ultra was identified as the right vehicle to support both current requirements and future ambitions, with its size suited to the operating environment, improved fuel efficiency, strong performance on rural and narrow roads and a positive overall operational experience all contributing to the decision.
