Doncaster Community Transport welcomes latest Mellor Orion
Doncaster Community Transport, the provider of Dial-a-Ride services and day trips for elderly and disabled residents, has taken delivery of two new Mellor Orion’s. The new buses join a fleet of around 30 vehicles, 9 of which are Mellor built. Their arrival is part of the organisation’s ongoing bus replacement programme.
The Orion’s are capable of carrying 16 passengers on 13 Phoenix Blenheim standard seats and three Blenheim tip & turn seats. Alternatively, they can carry a maximum of 5 wheelchairs. Passenger access is via a Ventura rapid side sliding door or through double rear doors, each with its own access ramp. Saloon heating is provided by an Eberspacher heater.
Louise Daniels from Doncaster Community Transport said:
“We’ve operated Mellor buses for a number of years, and we have a great relationship with Jane Dransfield and the team. While the Mellor product is a great fit for our needs, on this occasion it was the chassis availability and lead time for delivery that stood out for us. Our demand for new vehicles has increased, so taking delivery of the new buses in a timely manner was important for us to deliver our services.”
Adaptable and highly configurable for use on a broad range of services, the Mellor Orion is the model of choice for local authorities, DAR and Stage Carriage services. The Orion range delivers maximum efficiency without compromising on passenger experience.
