Lancashire County Council picks Mellor Strata for significant fleet investment
A total of eight Mellor Strata high floor buses have been purchased by Lancashire County Council for their latest fleet replacement programme.
Mark Wilkinson, Fleet Manager for Lancashire County Council, said:
“These eight buses signify a substantial outlay for us, replacing older vehicles in our fleet of 100, all of which have been purchased from Mellor over the years. The orders followed successful tenders on each occasion.
“We needed buses with a flexible layout as they have been earmarked for our adult social service transport, where a number of different configurations are needed to accommodate passengers with varying levels of mobility.”
Mellor won the tender for the fleet upgrade due to the Strata being both competitively priced and offering the specifications required by Lancashire CC including a fold out step, double rear doors and an easy access inboard tail lift.
Jane Dransfield, Area Sales Manager for Mellor, said:
“The Strata HF is aimed primarily at the local authority and community transport sectors making it the perfect bus for Lancashire County Council.
“We are pleased they have once again come to us keeping their fleet all Mellor. The fact that they return to Mellor every time is testament to the quality and service they experience.”
The Strata HF, based on a Mercedes Sprinter chassis, has a reputation for offering performance, robustness and a low whole-life cost which makes it an affordable choice in a number of different sectors. The medium wheel base Strata specified by the council on this occasion will accommodate 16 seats or seven wheelchairs.
