We are proud to announce the launch of a re-styled version of its class-leading Maxima. First launched in 2016, the updated model has been designed with an uncompromising focus on comfort, accessibility, and practicality, setting a new benchmark for passenger experience in the accessible transport sector.
Popular with Health Care Trusts and Local Authorities, the Maxima is the largest vehicle in Mellor’s product range, offering seating for up to 32 passengers plus driver, and can accommodate up to eight wheelchair users. Built on the proven Iveco Daily platform, the Maxima continues to offer best-in-class seating capacity, high levels of passenger comfort, and a choice of internal or underfloor passenger lifts.
Now, with a host of new features and enhancements, the Maxima goes even further in delivering a vehicle that’s not only robust and efficient but truly passenger- and operator-friendly.
Brighter, More Spacious, More Accessible
A standout addition to the Maxima is the innovative ‘Sky View’ windscreen. This unique design eliminates the traditional cab header panel, increasing internal headroom and allowing natural light to flood the saloon. The result is a brighter, more open interior that enhances the on-board environment for all passengers, regardless of accessibility needs.
Also new is the entrance step with an additional, ergonomically curved step well. The design significantly improves comfort for passengers with limited mobility, creating a more open and inviting entrance space.
The entrance door has also been repositioned further forward, aligning the driver’s eye line directly with boarding passengers. This improves safety and enhances personal interaction without requiring the driver to turn awkwardly—particularly beneficial for overseeing vulnerable passengers.

Refined Driver and Passenger Environments
The driver’s cab has been completely redesigned to offer greater visibility, comfort, and alignment with the Maxima’s contemporary exterior facelift. Paired with the (optional) Camera Mirror System, the new cab layout reduces blind spots and eliminates bulky external mirrors, lowering replacement costs and improving maneuverability.
Inside the passenger saloon, significant updates include:
The Maxima’s composite body structure continues to deliver lightweight durability, supporting optimal fuel efficiency and straightforward maintenance. A key update sees the vehicle batteries now relocated to the nearside skirt, providing much-improved access for servicing, reducing vehicle downtime, and boosting operator convenience.
Visually, the Maxima has been transformed. The bolder, more dynamic silhouette features a completely reworked front end, designed to deliver striking road presence. The new exterior tastefully blends OEM paneling with Mellor’s bespoke A-Class surfaces, creating a vehicle that stands out from anything else on the market.
Built to Perform. Built to Last.
“We’ve listened to operators and passengers alike, and the result is a vehicle that truly delivers,” said Richard Matthews, Head of Sales at Mellor. “The new Maxima combines practical design with thoughtful features that enhance the driver and passenger experience – especially for those with additional accessibility needs – while providing operators with a cost-effective, durable solution.”
Backed by Mellor’s reputation for quality British manufacturing, the new Maxima is more than just a bus – it’s a future-ready solution for accessible transport. With intelligent saloon design, excellent fuel economy, and low total cost of ownership, the Maxima is built to perform and built to last.
We are taking orders now, and deliveries will commence in Q4 2025 for the new Maxima model. This vehicle will appeal to multiple transport applications—not only school or welfare transport, but also recreational transport applications—offering versatility, comfort, and efficiency for a wider range of passenger needs. Built on the latest GSR2 Iveco Daily chassis, the new Maxima also incorporates the latest safety innovations for complete piece of mind.
The new model will be on display at the upcoming Municipal Fleet & Plant Procurement Event, at JCB Headquarters on July 16th, in conjunction with TPPL.
