The new Hawkhead Centre in Paisley, run by Scottish War Blinded has taken delivery of two new Mellor Orion buses.

This is a repeat order following the delivery of two Mellor Orion vehicles in 2015 for the Linburn Centre in West Lothian that offers similar facilities to the new Hawkhead Centre in Paisley, which is due to open in Autumn 2017.

The vehicles feature Cant Rail Tracking, rear door wheelchair access with low floors, dash mounted reverse camera and Eberspacher climate control. The bus is fitted with Rescroft Defender seating for up to 16 passengers at a time, and will provide transport to and from the new centre for veterans with sight loss or visual impairment.

“We are delighted with the Mellor buses for our new Hawkhead Centre for visually impaired veterans in Paisley. These vehicles will enable Scottish War Blinded members from surrounding areas to attend the centre, including those with mobility issues.
The centre offers a variety of craft workshops, rehabilitation support, sports and cooking courses to help veterans who have served our country live a more independent life.”
