West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service
West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service (WYFRS) has taken delivery of a VW Crafter CR 50 with conversion by Mellor Coachcraft.
The vehicle will be used for a broad range of duties, from transportation of crews during large protracted incidents, to attendance of operational training exercises in support of the brigade’s aims and objectives.
Flexibility of operation was a central factor in the vehicle design to accommodate the broad range of uses. An example of this is the facility to remove all seats quickly and easily, enabling the vehicle to switch between tasks with the minimum of downtime.
All WYFRS staff involved in the project have been impressed with the professionalism and creativity demonstrated by Mellor Coachcraft in providing design solutions and fabrication of the vehicle conversion to the highest standard.
Glynn Richardson, Fleet Controller at WYFRS, said: “By coming to Mellor, we have been able to provide the Firefighters of West Yorkshire with an excellent resource to carry out the full range of operational and support roles. I have been very impressed with the level of creativity and expertise shown by Mellor Coachworks throughout the project.”
