Scarborough takes first Tucana II
The first Tucana II example from the factory has been delivered to regular customer Scarborough Dial-a-Ride.
The organisation, which started in 1983, has a variety of van conversions and an Orion in its fleet of nine vehicles but says the Tucana II will be a massive boon for the fleet’s broad range of work, especially as it could be run by a driver alone.
“It’s a very worthwhile investment for us,” said Manager Julie Banks. “We see it as ideal for group hire, which will allow us to bring more income in. It will give us the edge on tendered services, too.
“It really takes our fleet up another level. Ambulant people can get on and off unaided and with the rear access ramp, we have real flexibility.”
Julie says the service’s experience of Mellor’s after sales service easily overrides the initial cost:
“We’re happy to make such a big investment because we have complete confidence in Mellor’s back-up, which has been excellent.”
Mellor now has three mobile service technicians on the road with specialist knowledge.
