Redcar And Cleveland Council Keeps The Community Moving With Strata
Redcar and Cleveland Council has taken delivery of three new Mellor Strata buses.
The buses have been specifically configured to provide optimum functionality and comfort for passengers on the Council’s Local Link route and all feature wheelchair access. The Strata has capacity to carry up to 21 passengers at a time, which is ideal for local services such as those provided by the Council.
Anthony Smith, Fleet Manager at Redcar and Cleveland Council, said: “The Council is delighted with the new buses, we are really pleased with the quality of build on the Strata and the additional advantage of lower running costs is an important benefit for us.
“It has been a pleasure dealing with the knowledgeable, professional and friendly team at Mellor, which has made the whole purchasing process smooth and trouble free from the specification stage right through to delivery.”
Local Link services are seen by many as an important lifeline to many local residents, especially those who are less mobile or who live in semi-rural areas.
For additional safety and security, the buses have been equipped with 360° CCTV and a reversing rear view camera with warning beeper.
At a time when many bus routes are being sacrificed due to cuts, it’s a welcome triumph to see Redcar and Cleveland successfully serving the needs of their community.
