Mellor Strata LF spells success for Shuttle Buses
Shuttle Buses has taken delivery of a Strata low floor bus to serve the local community on a subsidised service contract to the Strathclyde Partnership.
Managing Director of Shuttle Buses, David Granger, said: “This is the first Mellor vehicle we have purchased following a successful trial of a Strata demonstrator last year which we really liked.
“The vehicle is earmarked for a service that runs seven days a week from 7am until midnight, clocking up more than 1,400 miles a week, so we needed a reliable fuel-efficient option. The Strata is also the ideal size for our new, mainly rural route, which we have the contract for until July 2021.”
Shuttle Buses wanted a vehicle with a ‘big bus’ feel and therefore specified a high quality interior with leather effect seats, wood panel flooring and silver grab rails.
The Strata low floor has recently been awarded a Low Emissions Bus (LEB) certificate in the UK, demonstrating the bus’s green credentials. The accreditation, as described by the UK government, is awarded to vehicles using technology that produces 15 per cent fewer ‘Well-to-Wheel’ emissions when compared with equivalent Euro V diesel buses.
Lorna Miller, National Sales Manager for Mellor, said: “Shuttle Buses wanted a bespoke interior and layout which we were easily able to offer as the vehicle is completely versatile and built on site at our Mellor factory in Rochdale.
“It’s been great working with David and his team to tailor their new vehicle to meet their exact requirements and we are confident that the Strata will be a great addition to their fleet.”
Shuttle Buses was established in 1995 and has more than 25 years’ experience in transport. With a fleet of 48 vehicles from 16-74 seaters they offer a range of options to suit any occasion or contract including corporate travel, school trips, sports teams and wedding hire.
