Lancashire County Council Updates Fleet with 15 New Mellor Strata High Floor Buses
Lancashire County Council has recently taken delivery of 15 new Mercedes-Benz Mellor Strata High Floor buses, further strengthening its commitment to providing high-quality transport solutions for special needs children and adult social care services.
Designed with ultimate flexibility in mind, the new vehicles offer 16 fully removable seats or the capacity to accommodate up to six wheelchairs. The coachbuilt body is crafted to create a light and airy interior, enhancing passenger comfort and providing ample space for easy maneuverability.
Each vehicle is equipped with an easy-access inboard tail lift, a single-leaf glider door, heating and air conditioning, a reversing camera and sensors, as well as the innovative Cycle Eye system for added safety. These features contribute to a seamless and secure travel experience for both passengers and operators.
Out of Lancashire County Council’s fleet of 130 vehicles, an impressive 75% are Mellor buses. The council continues to choose Mellor due to the flexibility of configuration, the reliability of the Mercedes-Benz base vehicle, and the excellent working relationship with the Mellor team, who worked closely with the LCC team to accommodate change requests throughout the procurement process.
Ian Wilkin, Transport Services Manager at Lancashire County Council, praised the latest addition to the fleet: “The Mellor Strata High Floor vehicles significantly improve productivity through their reliability and efficiency. The ongoing collaboration with Mellor ensures we receive vehicles that meet our exact needs, making a tangible difference in the daily operations of our transport services.”
These 15 new vehicles underscores Lancashire County Council’s commitment to providing high-quality, adaptable, and efficient transport solutions for those who rely on their services.
