East Ayrshire Council Returns to Mellor for Orion Fleet Replacement

Mellor is pleased to announce the delivery of 10 Orion Accessible Buses to East Ayrshire Council, marking a significant upgrade from their previous fleet purchased in 2019. These new vehicles will be operated by Coalfield Community Transport, ensuring continued accessibility and comfort for the community.

The delivery of these buses highlights East Ayrshire Council’s commitment to providing modern, inclusive transportation solutions. Pictured in the handover are Paul McCrorie, Fleet Manager at East Ayrshire Council, and Bobby Wallace, Transport Manager for Coalfield Community Transport, alongside Mellor’s Stephen Haywood.

The Mellor Orion stands out as the only completely flat low-floor bus on the market, with a class-leading floor height of just 250mm. This design facilitates easy access via folding ramps, eliminating the need for tail lifts and thereby reducing maintenance requirements. The Orion’s highly configurable layouts offer flexible seating for up to 16 passengers and accommodation for up to 5 wheelchairs, underscoring its dedication to inclusivity and passenger dignity.
East Ayrshire Council’s decision to return to Mellor for their fleet replacement underscores the trust and satisfaction in Mellor’s innovative, reliable, and accessible transportation solutions.
